Games to Play When You're Angry
Updated ยท by the SmashRelief team
Everyone has those moments: the meeting that should have been an email, the bug that only happens in production, the message you are trying very hard not to reply to. You don't need a lecture on breathing exercises right now. You need two minutes of breaking something that doesn't matter.
Below are five free browser games built for exactly that, matched to the kind of angry you are. They all load in a couple of seconds and work on your phone.
Pick by mood
| Ifโฆ | Play |

| You want to throw something | ๐ฝ๏ธ Plate Smash |
| Work is the problem | ๐ฅ Office Wrecker |
| You want one big satisfying crash | ๐ช Glass Smash |
| You are wound up and need to come down | ๐ซง Bubble Wrap Pop |
| You are restless rather than angry | ๐งธ Fidget Toys |
1. Plate Smash โ you want to throw something

Throwing plates at a wall is the classic rage room activity. Every tap sends a dish flying and it explodes on impact, with a crash and a pile of pieces on the floor. Quick taps build a combo, which turns the anger into a little rhythm game.
2. Office Wrecker โ work is the problem

If the source of the anger is an inbox, a meeting or a spreadsheet, go straight to the source. Office Wrecker gives you a desktop full of them and six weapons, from a hammer to a nuke. The damage stays on screen, so you can see the job getting done.
3. Glass Smash โ you want one big satisfying crash

Glass Smash is slower and more deliberate. Each hit spreads cracks across the glass and the final blow bursts the whole pane. It is very good at turning a burst of frustration into one clear, loud moment.
4. Bubble Wrap Pop โ you are wound up and need to come down

Sometimes the best move is not more noise. Endless bubble wrap gives your hands a small, repetitive job; swipe a row, hear the pops, repeat. Zen mode has no timer at all.
5. Fidget Toys โ you are restless rather than angry

A Pop It to press, a spinner to flick and a board of switches to click. Useful when the feeling is more "can't sit still" than "want to break something".
Making the break actually work
- Keep it short. Two to five minutes. The aim is a reset, not a new way to avoid the problem.
- Turn the sound up (or put headphones on). The crash is half of the release.
- Notice how you feel afterwards. If smashing leaves you more wound up, switch to bubble wrap or fidget toys next time.
- Then step away. Stand up, drink some water, look out of a window. Come back to the thing that made you angry with a slightly cooler head.
If you would rather do this for real, read our guide to a rage room at home โ including what you should never smash.
These games are a light way to let off steam. If anger is frequent, intense or affecting the people around you, talking to a doctor or a qualified professional can help.
Frequently asked questions
Do games actually help when you are angry?
A short game can give you a pause and something to focus on other than whatever annoyed you, which is often enough to stop you from sending that email. Games are a quick outlet, not a fix for ongoing anger.
Is it better to smash things or calm down?
It depends on you. Some people feel better after something loud and fast; others feel more wound up afterwards. Try both kinds โ a smashing game and a calm one โ and notice which actually leaves you feeling better.
How long should I play?
A few minutes is plenty. Set a short limit, play, then step away from the screen for a minute โ get some water or some air.
Are these games free?
Yes. All five games run in your browser for free, with no download and no account.
